From cypress to plank: Jubal's sawmill

The log flies to the bench, the saw does its job and the planks land on the pile.

A plank does not come from nowhere. In The Ark, every cypress log you chop ends up at Jubal’s sawmill, and we wanted that whole journey to be visible.

From the grove to the bench

When you bring him timber, the log travels to the workbench. Jubal sets it in place and starts sawing. You can stay and watch or get on with your own work.

The planks arrive with the last cut

The planks fly to the pile only with the final cut, not before. It sounds like a small detail, but it changes the feeling: it is not a counter going up by itself, it is a job being finished.

Why it matters

Building the ark is at the heart of the first chapters. If every plank feels earned, seeing the hull closed at the end of chapter two means much more.
